Camp Theme Ideas

O.K., so here is the perfect excuse for having a blog...I need ideas. I am the Stake Camp Director and the YM/YW theme this year is Mos. 5:15..."...be steadfast and immovable always abounding in good works..." I do not like cheesy camp themes that are typical. So far, the 3 images in my mind that best illustrate this scripture are a rock, a fruit tree and a lighthouse (which are only as firm as their foundations). Now, how to turn one of those images into a camp theme is what I will be working on over the next few days. If any of you have anything that might spark further development of these ideas or something different altogether...lemme no!

Good luck with that! I have the greatest camp memories. Most of them involve your sister. There are so many things you could do with a lighthouse theme!

Love, love, love the fruit tree!
The deeper the root, the stronger the tree - you can do a lot with that too!
Cherry Blossoms Baby - all the way!

I also love the fruit tree - I like the other two ideas but have had both of them as themes before. The fruit tree would be something new and so many scriptures would relate to that. and nancy is right - cherry blossoms would be fun!

I agree with the other two comments about the tree. yesterday in our ward a member of the bishopric was talking about that scripture because it is the theme for all the YM/YW and he talked about the fruits of our labor also. Which can be related very easily to the tree. Have you talked to Angie about this yet? She is the master at this kind of stuff!

C- I think the tree is the way to go. There's a ton you can do with it, and it is a powerful metaphor! The rock makes a lot of sense, but wouldn't be quite as fun to work with- IMO. Personally, I think the lighthouse is a little more about direction... a compass- or maybe example. It doesn't say "steadfast" as point on as a tree- roots, foundation, etc... does! Sarah

That is so funny. I just read your last couple blogs and its like we are living the same life just in different places. 24, Seinfeld cookbook, and I am camp director too, but just on the ward level. And I need help so maybe I will blog about some help next. About your camp...the tree sounds the best. You are so creative, it will be so fun.

OK, so I love the tree metaphor but am leaning towards something different altogether...the fable of the Hare and the Tortoise. E. Bednar uses this example as steadfast because the tortoise is on a steady course and cannot be deterred or distracted. I thought we could put, "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" on the t's with a cute cartoonish turtle graphic...more fun than a tree. I would like to really develop this theme, so any ideas you have pertaining to this fable and the YW theme and value of integrity would be super appreciated. If you commented before, I'd better here from you again!
